Friends of Downtown Dallas was launched in August 2016 to fill a gap left by the closure of Examiner.com in July 2016. The need for an online news portal which offers a venue for both Op/Ed pieces in addition to unbiased articles is a commodity lacking in many metropolitan areas.
The Downtown Dallas area is rich with diversity representing many different socio-economic groups and it is currently going through many growing pains as more of the population is attracted to inner city living. One of the missions to Friends of Downtown Dallas is to provide a virtual meeting place where readers can learn about the history and how past decisions have led to current challenges and successes as well as current day topics that directly affect our lives.
